2019 Chuseok Celebration – A Holiday for Giving Thanks

September 15, 2019 Around 200 Korean Culture fans got together to celebrate Korean Thanksgiving “Chuseok”, one of the biggest holidays in Korea. Attendees learned how to make “Songpyun”, Korean Thanksgiving rice cake and taste tested their own creations, and got to taste Korean holiday foods and deserts. Attendees participated in a Chuseok game of tug of war and “Ssireum”, traditional Korean wrestling. On Sunday, June 23, Northwest suburb Wheeling Town held a parade to celebrate its 125th anniversary. On this day, about 50 community groups from North Gate Parkway to Wolf Rd. 한인문화회관 전통혼례 체험

지난 5월 28일 시카고 한인 문화회관에는 제임스 엔 갬블 몬테소리 고등학교(James N Gamble Montessori High school)의 한국어 반 학생들이 방문해서 한국 전통혼례를 재현하며 직접 참여하는 시간을 가졌다. 학생들은 신랑, 신부, 혼주 들의 역할을 정하여 문화회관에서 마련한 모든 소품을 사용하여 진행된 혼례 절차에 열성적으로 참여했다. 이들은 혼례복, 혼례상등 색다른 결혼식을 사진에 담으며 흥미를 보였다. 앞으로 한인문화회관은 전통혼례 체험을 정규프로그램화하여 보다 많은 미국인들에게 한국의 전통 혼례식을 선보일 예정이다.
