The Korean Cultural Center of Chicago reopened on June 15th with strict guidelines. Ahead of reopening, the KCCoC was hard at work with deep cleaning, sanitizing and disinfecting each and every section of all of the 4 buildings. Acrylic protective screens and social distancing stickers have been put in place in and around the Cultural Center. Classes at the KCCoC is also working towards reopening with guidelines that suits each class. With questions on specific class and schedules, please contact the class instructor. Jazz Mass and George Gershwin Date: 3/8/2020 Place: Korean Cultural Center of Chicago Event Hall #1 시카고 한인문화회관 합창단이 3월 8일에 제3회 정기 콘서트를 개최했습니다. 합창을 위한 재즈 음악은 어려울 수도 있지만, 문화회관 합창단은 플라잉 컬러로 음악을 연주하여 150명 청중들의 열렬한 호응을 받았습니다. KCCoC Choir held their 3rd annual concert at the Korean Cultural Center of Chicago in Wheeling, on March 8th at 5:30pm. The concert was divided into 3 parts. Jan. 18 Sat. – Mar. 3 Tue., 2020 ‘2020 설’ 행사와 연계하여 ‘한국의 멋, 모자특별전’이 문화회관 박물관과 갤러리 특별기획으로 2개월간 열렸다. 2020년 1월 18일에 열린 오프닝 리셉션엔 악천후에도 불구하고 80명 이상의 귀빈과 관람객들이 ‘모자착용’ 드레스 코드에 맞춰 각양각색의 모자를 쓰고 참석하였다. 시카고 한국 무용단 학생들의 작은 공연을 시작으로 한복 디자이너 강금희씨의 ‘갓의 역사’에 대한 강의를 듣고 다양한 모자들을 써보는 체험의 시간도 갖었다. 전시회는 유례없는 호응으로 1 월 30일에서 3월 3일로 연장되었고, 설행사등 여러 문화회관 행사와 견학등을 통해 500여명 이상의 관람객들에게 다양한 한국 전통 모자들의 역사와 멋을 만나게 하였다. 한국에서 활동하는 ‘취(chui) 한복’의 강금희 작가의 한복 인형 전시전 ‘조선의 하루’(The Day of Chosun)가 12월 30일부터 2020년 1월14일(토)까지 시카고 한인문화회관 갤러리에서 열렸다. 강 작가의 첫 미국 전시회인 이번 전시 제목 ‘조선의 하루’는 지금과 달리 한복이 일상복이었던 ‘조선의 어느 날’에 더욱 다채롭게 입었을 한복을 상상한 데서 비롯됐다. 실제 한복은 부피가 커서 외국에서 전시하기에 운반이 쉽지 않아 이동성이 용이한 인형을 모델로 이용하고, 인형은 30cm 정도의 작은 인형에 한국 여인의 얼굴을 그렸으며, 전통 실크와 노방 등을 사용해 아름다운 한복을 전통 방식 그대로 표현한 후, 머리·장신구, 신발에 이르기까지 수작업으로 만들었다고 한다. 이번 전시에는 총23점의 작품을 준비했으며, “일년이 넘는 준비기간이 걸린 이 전시를 통해 한인사회 뿐만 아니라...

On the second Thursday of every month at 11 am. pianist Sojung Hong and her friend will play a wealth of bright tunes by Mozart and other composers. The kick-off concert was on Dec. 12th with the subtitle, “It’s You I Like”.
