The Bride’s Family Greets the Groom

The groom enters with Girukabum (person leading the way-bestman) and Girukabum hands the geese to the groom.

Presentation of Wooden Geese

The groom places wild geese on a table.(The wild geese symbolize harmony love between husband and wife. Wild geese their promise of love and never find another, if they lost their partner.)

Bowing

The groom stands at the east side of the wedding table then, the bride walks to the west side.

The helpers wash the hands of the bride and groom.

First, the bride bows twice and the groom bows back once.

The bride bows twice again. Then, the groom bows back again.(The bowing represents the promise of commitment to each other.)

Combine the Gourd Dipper

The helper of the groom pours the first drink then, the groom raises his glass to god.

Helpers pour the second drink and the bride and groom take a sip their glasses.

Helpers fill the cup which made of gourd dipper and the bride and groom take a sip.

The bride and groom put their gourd dipper together to make one. (The two halves of gourd dipper represent the bride and groom to be one.

Declaration of Wedding

The bride and groom bow to both families and guests.

신부 집에 온 신랑을 맞이하는 예

신랑이 기럭아범의 인도로 신부 집으로 입장하고, 신랑에게 기러기를 전달한다.

기러기를 올리는 예

신랑은 기러기를 상위에 내려놓는다. (기러기는 끝까지 해로하는 동물로 부부간의 정절을 상징한다.)

서로 인사를 교환한다.

신부는 혼례상 앞으로 나오고 신랑은 동쪽으로 신부는 서쪽으로 선다.

신랑과 신부는 마음을 정갈히 한다는 의미로 대야물에 손을 씻는다.

신부가 먼저 두번 절을 하고, 신랑이 한번 답례 절을 한다.

신부는 다시 두번 절을 하고, 신랑이 한번 절을 한다. (답례절을 하는 것은 서로에 대한 허락의 약속이다.

표주박을 합치다.

신랑의 수모는 첫번째 술을 따르고 신랑은 잔을 하늘에 올린다.

신랑과 신부의 수모들은 두번째 술을 따르고 신랑과 신부는 마신다.

수모들은 표주박잔에 세번째 술을 따르고, 신랑과 신부는 마신다.

신랑과 신부는 표주박 잔을 합친다. (반쪽이 합쳐져야 비로소 완전한 하나의 표주박이듯이 신랑 신부도 합쳐졌을때 비로소 하나가 된다는 의미로 표주박을 쓴다.)

혼례가 성립되다.

신랑과 신부가 양가 부모님과 내빈께 인사를 올린다.
