시카고한인문화회관 (이하 문화회관)이 지난 2월 10일, 토요일에 아주 특별한 설 잔치를 마쳤다. 문화회관과 파트너 쉽을 가지고 있는 시카고 심포니 오케스트라에서 있었던 조성진과 시카고 심포니 협연에 앞서, 연주회의 사전행사로 오케스트라 센터 내 그레인저 홀에서 오후 6시부터 7시까지 설 행사가 열렸다. 행사는 정우성 대금 연주자의 축하 연주로 시작하여 차례 지내기 시연을 한 후, 세배하는 법도 알려주었다. 차례지내기는 실제 차례상 차림을 준비하고, 문화회관 김윤태 회장과 윤영식 이사가 차례를 이끌고, 문화회관 청소년 리더쉽 & 봉사그룹인 주니어 엠버서더들이 하여 참여하여 온 가족이 설날 아침에 차례를 지내는 풍경을 재연하였다. 또한 즉석에서 희망자에 한하여 차례지내기와 세배 체험을 해보게 하였는데, 특히 강정희 문화회관 이사장은 미리 세뱃돈을 준비하여 명절...

한인 차세대 입양인 구술채록 이 프로젝트는 대한민국 재외동포청의 지원금으로 제작되었다. 차세대 한인입양동포들의 구술 채록을 통하여 잊혀지기 쉬운 그들의 삶을 되돌아보며, 특히 그 과정을 통하여 한국인으로서의 정체성을 인식하고 민족적 유대감을 형성하여 그들의 삶을 역사의 기록으로 남기는 것을 목적으로 한다. Public Access시카고한인문화회관 유튜브 채널에 Korean Adoptee Oral History Section에서 시청이 가능하며, PastPerfect – Online Museum Software를 사용하여 Public Access도 가능하다. 또한 PastPerfect 의 Public Access를 통하여 시카고한인문화회관의 웹사이트에 연계하여 박물관 소장품 및 Oral History Collection을 모두 볼수 있도록 하였다.
시카고한인문화회관이 미중서부 한국학교협의회가 주최한 ‘한국엿사문화체험-한국인의 일생’ 프로그램에서 전통혼례시연을 하였다. 본 행사는 11월 18일 토요일 오전 10시에 윌링 소재 그레이스 교회에서 열려 시카고지역 한국학교학생 및 교사들이 대면으로 관람하고, 이후 유튜브 링트를 통해 미중서부 지역 한국학교 학생들에게도 전해졌다.

The KCCoC celebrated the traditional Hangawi holiday on September 30th with an event titled “Hangawi & Kimchi.” During this event, attendees, including families and friends, gathered at the KCCoC to make traditional kimchi and participate in various cultural activities. Kimchi, Korea’s iconic dish beloved worldwide, is now readily available in Chicago’s markets. The KCCoC’s culinary team, especially for this Hangawi, conducted a pre-event demonstration of kimchi preparation. They completed the entire process of making kimchi, from mixing vegetables with seasoning to burying the kimchi jars in the ground.
