‘Maps of Joseon Korea’ KCCoC Museum Special Exhibition

‘조선의 지도’ 문화원 박물관 특별전 During the late Joseon dynasty (1392-1910), cartography and the production of maps in general became widespread in Korea. Many presentation formats were created at that time, including those found in this exhibition: screens, rubbings, sheet maps, and atlases in various sizes. Sijo-Inspired Art Exhibition

This exhibition presents Sijo-Inspired Artworks, inspired by prize-winning sijo from the Sejong Writing Competition, organized by the Sejong Cultural Society. Students from William Howard Taft High School in Chicago read and interpreted sijo—Korea’s traditional poetic form with nearly a thousand years of history—and reimagined them as contemporary visual artworks. Through education, creative programs, and interdisciplinary collaboration, the Sejong Cultural Society works to introduce sijo as part of literary and arts education in the United States.
