This exhibition highlights the creative talents of AP Art students from Arrowhead Union High School in Hartland, Wisconsin, who have crafted artworks inspired by sijo. The featured sijo are award-winning pieces from the Sejong Writing Competition, Sejong International Sijo Competition, and Wisconsin Sijo Competition.   The exhibition celebrates the elegance of sijo written in English, harmonized with the artistic interpretations of these talented students. Sijo, a traditional form of Korean poetry with a history of over a thousand years, continues to captivate audiences worldwide. 2024년 10월 19일, 토요일에 시카고 한국학교 (교장 김병석) 에서는 시카고한인문화원의 특별 전시 “Symbolism in Korean Art and Culture” 를 방문하고 아주 특별한 배움의 시간을 가졌다. 1893년 시카고 만국박람회에 전시되었던 한국 전시관 전시물들을 130년이 훌쩍 지난 지금 만나볼 수 있다고 하여 아이들은 호기심 어린 눈빛으로 특별전시를 관람하였다.   가장 중요한 전시품목인 활옷 속에 숨겨진 상징을 찾으면서 한국 전통 문화에 대해 배워보는 시간을 가졌다. 학교로 돌아와서는 국립대구박물관에서 지원받은 어린이 문화체험 자료로 나비 상징을 만들어보면서 오늘의 배움을 다시 한번 마음에 새길 수 있었다. 시카고 한국학교에서는 이렇게 특별한 전시를 이번 학기의 학습단원으로 정하고 한국 전통 문화 예술 속에 담긴 상징과 의미를 배우며 한글을 익히고...
