September 04, 2021 The Junior Ambassador of the Chicago Korean Cultural Center Student Volunteer Group started volunteering for the 2021 Fall semester on September 4th. The volunteer group consists of 11 students from middle school to high school and will volunteer for the next 10 weeks.   시카고한인문화회관 학생봉사단 Junior Ambassador가 2021 가을학기 봉사를 9월 4일에 시작하였다. 이번 봉사단은 중, 고등학생 11명으로 구성되어 앞으로 10주간의 봉사를 하게 된다.

August 21, 202 The second session of the Cultural Center Library Book Discussion program was “When Breath Becomes Air”. The book is about Paul Kalanithi, a young 36-year-old neurosurgeon, who struggled with death of patients with fatal brain injuries, who was also diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. A moving true story of a doctor’s final two years of his life.   문화회관 도서관 Book Discussion 프로그램 두번째 시간은 “숨결이 바람 될 때”였다. 이 책은 신경외과 의사로서 치명적인 뇌 손상 환자들을 치료하다가 자신도 폐암 말기 판정을 받고 죽음을 마주하게 된 서른여섯 젊은 의사 폴 칼라니티의 감동적인 실화이다.

The 5th New Artist Competition, sponsored by the Korean Cultural Center of Chicago, awards ceremony and opening reception were held at the Cultural Center Gallery on Saturday, August 14 at 5:00 p.m. The New Artist Competition, the second competition since the Covide-19 pandemic, featured professional and non-professional Korean artists from all over the United States, with a total of 52 pieces of artworks.  2021 여름 한국전통공방 특강 Korean Quilt: July 14 & 21, 2021 Paper Jewelry Box: July 19 & 26, 2021 During the Summer, Cultural Center held traditional craft workshop classes where each class had a maximum of 10 students, one session per week for two weeks. Many students participated as it was during Summer break. The ‘Jogakbo’ quilt, donated by Hanbok Technology Institute USA, class was slightly difficult as it was the first time hand sewing for some, but everyone successfully completed the work creating unique individual ‘Jogakbo’.
