주니어 엠버서더, 문화회관 표창장 및 ’미 대통령 봉사상’ 수여   KCCoC Junior Ambassadors, the youth leadership and volunteer group completed their Spring Semester activities and held a ceremony for the KCCoC and the President’s Volunteer Service Award. Among 20 active students, four have graduated, and current Junior Erica Yoo will take on the role as the president with Juniors Claire Oh and Iris Lee will take on the vice-president positions. The U.S. President’s Service Award was awarded to 11 students, and a certificate of recognition was given to Erica Yoo, who won the Junior Ambassador Logo Creation Contest in April.   문화회관...

문화회관 컬리너리 한식 수업 ‘밑반찬’ _”김떡야” May 25 문화회관 컬리너리 아트의 한식 수업 ‘Meet Banchan’의 두번째 수업은 ‘김떡야’였다. 냉동 김밥의 인기가 높아진 것에서 착안하여 한국 원조 김밥을 직접 만들어 보는 수업을 준비한 것이다, 지현정 강사의 김밥과 떡볶이 만들기 시범이 있었고, 수강생들은 직접 만든 김밥을 시식하며 떡볶이와 야쿠르트를 곁들여 점심 식사를 하였다. ‘김떡야’ 수업은 오는 8월에 다시 한번 열릴 예정이다.   Make your own Gimbap! Homeschooling Group Field Trip

재택학습 그룹 필드트립 May 9 Homeschooled students ranging from preschool to high school and their parents in the Chicagoland area visited the cultural center on a field trip. Students toured the museum, experienced the Taegukgi box, as well as hanbok and headpieces. 시카고 지역에서 홈스쿨링을 하는 학생들과 학부모들이 문화회관을 견학하였다, 프리스쿨부터 고등학생 나이에 이르기까지 다양한 연령의 학생들이 함께 할수 있는 프로그램으로 문화회관 박물관 관람, 태극기 박스 체험, 한복 체험 등을 하였다. 특히, 박물관 관람에서는 노트까지하며 진지하게 참여하는 모습도 보였다.

K-experience: Celebrate Korean Children’s Day 2024

시카고한인문화회관 어린이날 행사 “별주부전” The Korean Cultural Center of Chicago held Children’s Day event, ‘Byeol-ju Bu-jeon (The Rabbit’s Liver)’ on Saturday, May 4, 2024 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. 100 pre-registered participants experienced various experiences throughout 10 different stations.   시카고한인문화회관 (이하 문화회관)이 한국 어린이날을 기념하는 행사를 5월 4일 토요일에 문화회관에서 개최하였다. 올해의 행사는 한국의 전래동화 중 ‘별주부전’을 테마로 하였다. 준비된 모든 스테이션을 마치고 온 어린이들에게는 구디백이 선물로 주어졌는데, 이를 위해 특별 후원을 해주신 구광자 재정이사와 태극기를 후원해 주신 시카고 한인회에게 깊은 감사를 드린다.   특별히 이번 어린이날 행사는 2020년에 결성되어 꾸준히 자질을 다져온 문화회관 청소년 리더십 & 봉사그룹인...

인트린직 고등학교 필드트립 Apr. 18 K-Drama club students and teachers from Intrinsic School in Chicago visited KCCoC for a field trip. They were led to a tutorial of the Taegukgi box and an educational tour of the museum and the library. Korean Cuisine Class ‘Meet Banchan’_”Cucumber Kimchi”

문화회관 컬리너리 한식 수업 ‘밑반찬’ _”오이김치”   The first series of the Korean Cultural Center of Chicago (KCCoC) ‘Soo-Rah’ culinary class, ‘Meet Banchan’ was held on April 27th. As the first class this Spring, the class introduced Korean cucumber dishes that anyone can easily access with simple recipes without having to use a stovetop. Class introduced cucumber kimchi with chives and cucumber salad led by instructor, Eunice Lee with taste testing of cucumber cold soup, vegetable pancakes and acorn jelly, which everyone got to enjoy for lunch. Next class for ‘Meet Banchan’ will be held on Saturday, May 25th with ‘Gim-Tteok-Ya’....

문화회관 목요음악회 시리즈 ‘모짜르트 인더 모닝’ 4월 콘서트는 박주미 국악클래스 제자들과 함께 한 공연으로 뮤지컬 Kiss The 춘향 OST ‘쑥대머리’, 단가, 민요, 판소리, 다큐영화 주제곡 ‘그강을 건너지 마오’ 등 다양한 무대를 꾸몄다. 박주미 국악 Class는 2022년에 시카고한인문화회관 (이하 문화회관)에서 제자들과 함께 첫 발표회를 가진 이후, 2023년 두번째에 이어 이번에 세번째 공연을 열은 것이다. 문화회관 Performing Arts의 부디렉터이기도 한 박주미 국악 연주가는 “우리 소리가 좋다라는 오늘의 공연의 주제처럼 우리 소리를 좋아하고 아끼는 마음으로 시작된 국악 클래스가 시카고 지역사회와 미국 사회로까지 우리 소리를 힘차게 부르며 우리 문화를 알리는 역할을 해낼 수 있기를 소망해 본다”고 전했다.
