The Korean Cultural Center of Chicago (KCCoC) held the 12th annual benefit gala with the theme “Hope to the New Future” to raise funds for the construction of “Bisco Hall.” More than 300 guests and supporters attended the event, which began with a welcoming speech by Gala committee lead, Byoung Sug Kim followed by a congratulatory performance by Gayageum artist Eun sun Jung. ‘말모이, 한글을 지키다’ 오픈식 행사   시카고한인문화회관과 시카고 한국교육원이 공동주최로 10월 7일 금요일 오후 1시에 문화회관 박물관에서 ‘말모이, 한글을 지키다’ 체험형 전시상자 오픈식을 개최하였다.   이 전시상자는 재외동포들과 타국인들에 독립운동의 가치를 알리고 일제강점기에 탄생한 최초의 한글사전 ‘말모이’ 편찬의 역사를 알리고자 독립기념관이 개발하여 지원한 것으로 앞으로 문화회관 박물관에 상설 전시된다.   설명상자, 체험상자, 유물상자 등 총 3개의 상자로 구성된 말모이 상자는 한글 사전 편찬 과정뿐만 아니라 보물 제 2086호로 지정된 ‘조선말 큰사전 원고’의 복제 자료가 전시되어 있어서 전체적인 이해를 돕고 자석형 패널과 교체 가능한 디지털 패널들로 구성되어 전 연령대에게 맞춰져 있다.   앞으로 문화회관은 말모이 상자를 운영하여 전시 콘텐츠로서 타인종들과 재외...
