On September 25, 2016, the Korean Cultural Center of Chicago held its Annual Fundraiser Gala. The successful benefit dinner and concert was held at the Northbrook Hilton Chicago Hotel with over 300 attendees. Thank You! This past July 10th, pairs of jeong ju suks, seok deungs (stone lantern), and dol hareubangs (famous stone statues from Jeju Island) were donated to the Korean Cultural Center of Chicago by Pastor Lee Heung Jong. Dol hareubangs are considered to be gods that offer protection and fertility. They protect against demons traveling between realities and are typically placed outside of gates. These rock statues are found on Jeju Island and are made from basalt, a volcanic rock. This is the first time a set of dol harebang has been on display anywhere in the United States.
