The Concert of Centennial Anniversary of 3.1 Movement and the Provisional Government of Korea 3.1 운동 및 대한민국 임시정부 수립 100주년 기념 음악회

Korean people in Chicago celebrated the 100th anniversary of 3.1 Movement and the establishment of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korean with a music that of patriotism and desire for independence during Japanese occupation.

The March 1st Movement and Commemoration Concert for the Centennial Anniversary of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea, jointly organized by the Consulate General, the Korean Residents’ Association, Pyeongtong and Korean Cultural Center, was held at the Willing Korean Culture Center on the evening of the 16th with more than 200 people attending. The songs that were composed during Japanese colonial status like ‘I miss’, ‘I Want To Go’, ‘Dokdo’, ‘Nostalgia’ ‘Hero’ and ‘Arirang, alone’ were played celebrating Independence Movement and the spirit of the Korean people.

“We are happy to have such a wonderful event on a meaningful day, and we are grateful that we will be here again to honor our ancestors who sacrificed their lives for the hope of the nation,” said Kim Yun-tae, president of Korean Cultural Center in Chicago.


3.1운동과 대한민국 임시정부 수립 100주년을 맞아 시카고 한인동포들이 일제 강점기 당시 애국심과 독립을 향한 열망이 가득 담아 만든 가곡을 통해 화합하는 자리를 마련했다.

총영사관, 한인회, 평통, 문화회관이 공동으로 마련한 “3.1 운동 및 대한민국 임시정부 수립 100주년 기념 음악회”가 지난 16일 저녁 윌링 한인문화회관에서 200여명이 참석한 가운데 개최되었다. 이날 음악회에서는 시카고 지역 동포 성악가, 심윤지. 김연주, 주정은, 이경재, 이진욱씨와 연주가 이소정, 윤세라, 주혜진, 최유리, 변일훈씨 등 10명이 일제 강점기에 창작된 우리가곡, ‘그리워’, ‘가고파’, ‘독도’, ‘향수’, ‘영웅’, ‘홀로 아리랑’ 등 10여곡을 연주함으로써 3.1운동을 기념하고 한민족의 정신을 되새기는 뜻깊은 자리가 됐다.

김윤태 문화회관 회장은 “뜻깊은 날 이런 훌륭한 행사를 문화회관에서 함께 할 수 있어 기쁘고, 나라의 희망을 위해 목숨바친 선조들을 다시금 기리는 시간에 함께하게 되어 감사하다”고 전했다.
