The Korean Cultural Center of Chicago (KCCOC) successfully hosted a special lecture by Dr. Yoo Hong June, Director of the National Museum of Korea, on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at BISCO Hall, drawing enthusiastic interest from the local community. The lecture, titled “The Power of Korean History and the Uniqueness of Korean Culture,” filled BISCO Hall with an engaged audience, demonstrating the community’s strong interest in the value and foundations of Korean culture.

 

Dr. Yoo, a leading authority in Korean art history and author of My Cultural Heritage Tour, provided insightful perspectives on the identity of Korean cultural heritage and the unique beauty and value it embodies. He also highlighted how the roots of Korean culture have evolved into the globally admired K-Culture of today, fostering a sense of cultural pride across generations.

 

Through this lecture, KCCOC was able to reaffirm the significance of Korean culture in the Chicago area. Moving forward, the Center plans to continue inviting cultural experts for special lectures in honor of the late Dr. David Soosang Kang, sharing the depth and value of Korean culture with the local community.

시카고한인문화원(이하 문화원) 주최 유홍준 한국 국립중앙박물관장 초청 특별 강연이 2026년 3월 7일(토) 시카고한인문화원 비스코 홀(BISCO Hall)에서 지역 사회의 뜨거운 관심 속에 성황리에 개최되었다. 이번 특별 강연은 ‘한국 역사의 힘과 한국 문화의 독창성’이라는 주제로 진행되어, 비스코 홀을 가득 메운 청중들의 열기로 한국 문화의 가치와 근간에 대한 높은 관심을 입증했다.

 

유 관장은 한국 미술사학계의 권위자이자 ‘나의 문화유산답사기’의 저자로서, 이날 특별 강연을 통해 우리 문화 유산의 정체성과 그 안에 담긴 독창적인 아름다움과 가치를 통찰력 있게 전달하였다. 한국 문화의 뿌리가 어떻게 오늘날 세계를 매료시킨 K-컬처로 이어졌는지 세대를 초월한 문화적 자긍심을 고취시켰다.

 

이번 유홍준 관장의 강연을 통해 한국 문화의 위상을 시카고 현지에서 다시 한번 확고히 다질 수 있었으며, 향후에도 한국 문화의 깊이와 가치를 지역사회와 공유하기 위하여 각 문화계 전문가들을 초청하여 고(故) 강수상 박사(Dr. David Soosang Kang)의 뜻을 기리는 특별 강연 시리즈를 지속적으로 개최할 예정이다.
