This exhibition presents Sijo-Inspired Artworks, inspired by prize-winning sijo from the Sejong Writing Competition, organized by the Sejong Cultural Society. Students from William Howard Taft High School in Chicago read and interpreted sijo—Korea’s traditional poetic form with nearly a thousand years of history—and reimagined them as contemporary visual artworks. Through education, creative programs, and interdisciplinary collaboration, the Sejong Cultural Society works to introduce sijo as part of literary and arts education in the United States. This exhibition highlights a creative space where poetry and visual art come together through cross-cultural exchange.

 

본 전시는 세종문화회가 주최하는 세종작문경연대회 수상작 시조에서 영감을 받아 제작된 시조시화전입니다. 시카고 태프트 고등학교 학생들은 약 천 년의 역사를 지닌 한국의 전통 시형인 시조를 읽고 이를 현대적인 시각 예술 작품으로 재해석했습니다. 세종문화회는 시조 교육과 창작, 그리고 다양한 예술 장르와의 융합을 통해 시조를 미국의 문학·예술 교육의 한 부분으로 소개하고 있으며, 이번 전시는 시와 미술이 만나는 창의적인 문화 교류의 장을 보여줍니다.
