박물관 특별 세라믹 전시 ‘Earthly Eloquence’ 개막

The Korean Cultural Center of Chicago proudly unveiled its special museum exhibition, Earthly Eloquence: Tradition and Innovation in Contemporary Korean Ceramics, a six-month showcase running from April 26 through December 31.

The opening reception drew more than 80 distinguished guests, including Patrick Horcher, President of Wheeling, and representatives from the Korean Craft and Design Foundation (KCDF), who traveled from Korea in support of the exhibition. Guests from Chicago’s cultural and artistic circles gathered to celebrate the occasion and experience the rich dialogue between tradition and modernity embodied in contemporary Korean ceramics.

시카고한인문화원(이하 문화원)은 지난4월 26일 박물관 특별 세라믹 전시회 ‘Earthly Eloquence: Tradition and Innovation in Contemporary Korean Ceramics’ 오프닝 리셉션을 성황리에 개최하였다. 이는 4월 26일부터 12월 31일까지 열리는 문화원 박물관 한국도자전 특별 전시회 개막을 알리는 뜻깊은 공식 행사로 패트릭 호커 (Patrick Horcher) 윌링시장, 한국에서 본 전시를 위하여 방문한 한국공예·디자인문화진흥원 (Korean Craft and Design Foundation)을 비롯한 시카고 문화 예술계 80여명이 참석하여 특별 전시를 관람하고 함께 축하하는 자리였다.

문화원 박물관 특별 전시 ‘Earthly Eloquence’는 오랜 세월동안 한국 예술 유산의 중심에 자리해왔고 숙련된 기술과 세련미를 동시에 담아내는 한국 도자기의 역동적인 발전을 조명하며, 수세기 동안 이어온 전통이 대담한 실험과 혁신을 통해 새롭게 재해석되는 모습을 보여준다. 문화원 조계영 비쥬얼 아트 디렉터가 프로젝트 총괄로 3년여의 준비기간을 통해 개최된 본 전시는 세계적인 명성을 보유한 이강효, 이수경, 김익경, 김인진, 허상욱, 스티븐 영 리를 비롯한 저명한 장인과 신진 작가들의 30여 점의 작품을 통해 백자, 청자, 분청사기, 옹기 등의 지속적인 유산을 조명하고 있다.
