시카고 한인문화회관(회장 김윤태)이 지난 6일 오후 5시 30분 오크브룩 테라스에 있는 드루어리 레인(Drury Lane)에서 ‘삶과 사랑, 한국’(Life & Love, Korea)를 주제로 제9회 기금모금 파티를 열었다.

모두 350여 명이 참석한 이날 개막 리셉션 후 13명이 참여한 전통혼례 시연이 특히 눈길을 끈 것으로 전해졌다. 조선시대 전통혼례를 재현했으며, 문화회관 측에 따르면 정우성 상주예술가(한국전통예술원)의 대금연주로 시작해 화려한 의상과 무대로 한국 전통의 미를 멋지게 선보였다.

Korean Cultural Center of Chicago offers Korean Traditional Wedding, also known as ‘K-Wedding’, incorporating Korean traditions to make it a truly unique experience. It is a beautiful rich ritual, rich in color, rich in intention and rich in historical context.

To make this as authentic as possible, a newly wed couple participated as the bride and the groom. Not only that, all of the artifacts, costumes, and items needed for the ceremony has been purchased directly from Korea. In preparation, a simulation K-Wedding ceremony took place in October 2019. Leading up to the event, members of the cultural center and volunteers worked together with rehearsals for a month to recreate this wonderful experience.
