‘Hope for the Flowers’ Exhibition
A special exhibition ‘Hope for the Flowers’ organized by The Korean Cultural Center of Chicago opened its door to the public with an Opening Reception on Saturday, July 18th, 2020 in the Cultural Center’s Gallery Hall. This exhibition was inspired by the book ‘Hope for the Flowers’ written by Trina Paulus. Using this story as an inspiration, KCCoC collected various types of work created during the ‘Stay at Home’ order due to the global pandemic to share stories and experiences of coping during this challenging time as a form of healing and hope. A total of 57 individuals submitted close to 90 different types of work, along with an essay for each piece created.
Around 60 guests pre-registered for the Opening Reception for the 2 time slots of 5pm and 6pm. Guests then enjoyed the exhibition while keeping social distance. Guests also were able to view the recorded interview with Trina Paulus. The Opening Reception was also featured on Facebook Live and Trina Paulus provided live feeds during the Reception.
