‘Maps of Joseon Korea’ Special Lecture & Reception

‘조선의 지도’ 문화원 박물관 특별전 기념 학술 강연 및 리셉션 개최

The Korean Cultural Center of Chicago (KCCoC) will host a special lecture and reception on April 19 (Sunday), featuring curator Richard A. Pegg, in conjunction with its ongoing exhibition “Maps of Joseon Korea”, which opened on March 6.

The lecture and reception are free and open to the public. The exhibition runs through August 31 and is expected to enhance appreciation of Korea’s cartographic heritage in the U.S., extending its value beyond a private collection into a significant public and scholarly resource.

시카고한인문화원(이하 문화원)은 지난 3월 6일 ‘조선의 지도’ 박물관 특별전시를 개막한 데 이어, 오는 4월 19일 (일)에 이번 전시를 기획한 리차드 페그 (Richard A. Pegg) 박사를 초청하여 특별 강연 및 리셉션을 개최한다.

문화원은 이번 특별 강연을 통해 전시된 지도들에 대한 이해를 깊게 하고, 그 안에 담긴 역사적 의미와 학문적 가치를 조명할 예정이다. 아울러 한국의 역사와 문화를 한인 이민 1세대를 넘어 차세대에게  알리는 계기가 되기를 기대하고 있다. 본 강연은 무료로 진행되며, 한인뿐 아니라 한국 문화와 역사에 관심 있는 비한인 및 차세대 누구나 참여할 수 있는 열린 행사이다.
