Chicago Korean Dance will present “From Heritage to New Expression,” the selected production of the BISCO Performing Arts Series hosted by the Korean Cultural Center of Chicago (hereafter KCCoC), on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 6:00 PM at BISCO Hall.

For this production, Chicago Korean Dance has newly curated its signature repertoire under the theme “Korean Traditional Dance and Contemporary Reinterpretation.” The program features works that faithfully embody the aesthetics of traditional Korean dance alongside creative pieces that reinterpret tradition through a modern lens. By bridging past, present, and future, the performance offers audiences a powerful and immersive experience of the depth and emotional resonance of Korean dance.

Performed exclusively by professional dancers, this production presents both traditional and contemporary Korean dance in a refined and thoughtfully structured program. With live commentary enhancing audience engagement and understanding, attendees will gain deeper insight into the historical context and artistic significance of each piece. The evening promises to be a meaningful artistic dialogue where tradition and modern sensibility coexist.

비스코홀 퍼포밍 아트 시리즈 선정작 “춤, 시간을 건너다”

시카고한인문화원 비스코 퍼포밍 아트 시리즈의 그 첫 공연은 시카고한국무용단의 “춤, 시간을 건너다” 로 열린다. 문화원은 2025년 봄 공모를 통하여 예술가들이 자유롭게 창작할 수 있는 플랫폼을 제공하고 비스코 홀의 공연문화를 활성화할 수 있는 당선작을 선정하였다.

본 공연에서 무용단은 그동안 선보여 왔던 하이라이트 무대를 한국 전통 무용과 현대적 재해석이라는 컨셉으로 접근하여, 관객들에게 기존의 틀을 벗어난 독창적인 문화예술 무대를 선사하게 될 것이다. 이애덕 단장은 “오늘, 이 자리에서 우리가 추는 춤이 가까운 미래, 혹은 일정 시간 뒤에 돌아보면, 전통이 될 수 있다. 이번 공연에서는 전공자들의 전통 무용 무대와 무용단이 재해석한 각각의 창작 무대를 해설과 함께 곁들여 애호가들의 이해를 돕게 될 것이다,”라고 말했다.
