The 4th KCCoC Student Art Competition

The Korean Cultural Center of Chicago (KCCoC) is excited to announce the return of its 4th Student Art Competition, themed “Sketch Korean in Chicago”! Join us on Saturday, May 2, from 10 AM to 5 PM at the KCCOC campus for a full day of creativity, culture, and fun.

Returning for the first time in five years since 2021, this special event celebrates Korean Children’s Day by inviting students to enjoy a picnic-like atmosphere while expressing their creativity and artistic talents inspired by Korean culture. Open to all K–12 students across the Midwest, this competition offers a meaningful opportunity for young artists to share their unique perspectives on Korea.

We expect around 100 students and over 100 parents and community members, making this a vibrant gathering for cultural exchange and community engagement. In addition, the KCCoC Library will host a special storytelling program for elementary students featuring “Bongsunga Tong Tong Tong,” where children can explore the story of balsam flowers—and even take home their own plant!

Winners in each category will receive prizes and certificates. The Grand Prize winner and First Prize winners will also receive a certificate from the Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Chicago, recognizing their outstanding achievements. In addition, several honorable mentions will be selected to encourage and celebrate participants.

The Awards Ceremony will be held on June 5 at the KCCoC Gallery, and winning artworks will be exhibited for approximately two weeks.
