Pop Up Museum was an event prepared by Open Center for the Arts, which is in our Mexican community, to share the Korean culture. Each year, one of the countries is the main focus for this event and in 2019 the focus was on Korea. In 2018, Cuba was in the spotlight with Journey to Cube Experience. Open Center for the Art hosted and Korean American Coalition of Chicago sponsored the event.
Korean Cultural Center of Chicago set up the Korean Cultural Center Pop Up Museum on the 3rd floor. Artifacts and items from the Korean cultural center were displayed to show the beautiful culture of Korea. During the event, guests enjoyed calligraphy activity, trying on Hanbok and photo time opportunity in front of a Mural by an artist from Open Center for the Arts. There was also an opportunity to taste test Korean berry wine and rice wine.
1st floor main level displayed the work of Korean artists, and Perilla’s chef, Andrew Lim showcased 5 different dishes. There was also a performance by Global Poongmul Institute, as well as a performance by Chemical X about K-Pop history.
