The Korean Cultural Center of Chicago’s 11th anniversary celebration was held on June 27 at the Cultural Center Museum. More than 90 members of the cultural center including officers, directors, and officials have attended the event, as well as a number of mainstream figures, including Congressman Brad Schneider and Mayor of Wheeling, Pat Horcher. President of Bisco, Byung-In Seo said, “We believe that Bisco Hall architectural donation will benefit many Koreans and foreigners, and I am extremely pleased to be able to help”, requesting for more active interest, participation, and support from the community.
In addition, an inauguration of 6th chairman Chunghee Kimberly Kang to succeed 5th chairman Moon Sang Lim was also celebrated with a ceremony with the congratulatory performance of the Korean Traditional Arts Center’s ‘Sarang Song’ (from the pansori ‘Chunhyangjeon’).
시카고한인문화회관 11주년 개관 기념식이 6월 27일 문화회관 박물관에서 열렸다. 이날 행사에는 문화회관 임원, 이사, 관계자 등 90여 명이 함께한 가운데 브래드 쉬나이더 연방 하원, 패트릭 호커 윌링 시장 등 다수의 주류 인사들도 참석해 자리를 빛냈다. 비스코 서병인 회장은 “비스코 홀 건축 도네이션은 많은 한인과 외국인들에게도 도움이 될 것으로 믿는다. 일조할 수 있어 매우 기쁘게 생각한다”며 문화회관에 대한 동포사회의 보다 적극적인 관심과 참여, 서포트를 부탁했다.
또한, 이사장 이취임식도 함께 마련돼 5대 임문상 이사장이 이임하고 새로 6대 강정희 이사장이 취임했다. 이어진 한국전통예술원의 ‘사랑가’(판소리 ‘춘향전’ 중)가 축하 공연은 참석자들의 흥을 돋웠다.
